Missiles have been hurled at law enforcement officials and homes set on hearth following a protest over an alleged sexual assault case in Northern Eire.

The streets of Ballymena city centre, situated about 30 miles from Belfast, became chaos on Monday night time as masked youths attacked police autos and threw projectiles at officers, some setting buildings alight and smashing in home windows.

Footage of the violent scenes captured homes up in flames. In a single video, a masked man was seen throwing an object at police vans as a crowd regarded on.

PSNI riot officers swarmed the streets close to Clonavon Terrace to carry the dysfunction below management, blocking the realm.

Native media reported that paint and masonry had been thrown at PSNI Land Rovers.

“Numerous missiles have been thrown in the direction of police with injury reported to various properties,” a PSNI spokesman mentioned.

“Officers are in attendance to make sure the security of everybody concerned. They may stay within the space tonight to proceed to watch the state of affairs.”
