A MUCH-LOVED grandfather died after his trousers caught hearth on a backyard weed burner, an inquest heard.
Ronald Barker died in hospital on September 17 2024 after the freak incident within the backyard of his house in Burnley, Lancashire.
Coroner Kate Bisset dominated the loss of life as an accident.
The inquest heard the 85-year-old was tending to his backyard on September 12, utilizing a weed burner to clear a pathway, when the underside of his trousers instantly ignited.
The retired manufacturing unit employee was seen by his neighbours who alerted the emergency companies.
Paramedics recorded that Ronald had important burns to his legs and he was rushed to Wythenshawe Hospital by air ambulance.
After talking with docs, his household had been initially informed the gandfather would possible not survive his accidents.
