A person who coerced his aged mom into withdrawing cash to assist him pay for medicine has been jailed for 21 months.
Robin Wray, 48, emotionally blackmailed his 84-year-old mum, telling her he would take his personal life if she refused to provide him cash.
He was sentenced after admitting harassment with out violence and interesting in controlling and coercive behaviour in a household relationship.
Leeds Crown Courtroom heard that Wray, of Ken Churchill Drive, Horbury, pressured his mom on various events to provide him cash.
Prosecutor Emily Thorbjornsen instructed the courtroom: ‘The defendant on the time had a bed room at her tackle and was residing between hers and numerous addresses together with his mates.
‘The defendant was a drug person on the time and that induced him to lose his job. In consequence, his behaviour in direction of his mom escalated and he relied on her as his solely supply of revenue. She acquired a weekly pension and he would repeatedly ask for cash.’
After strain, she gave in to his requests, the courtroom heard. The pensioner described her son as ‘relentless’, and when she refused to provide him cash on one event, Wray ‘banged round’ her residence, scaring her.
