A driver has died after his SUV smashed with a lorry within the north-east of Scotland.

The crash occurred on the A90 close to Cruden Bay, Aberdeenshire, at about 1pm yesterday.

The emergency providers rushed to the scene the place they discovered the the 53-year-old driver of a Toyota Rav4 fatally injured.

The paramedic crews have been unable to revive him and the person was pronounced useless on the scene.

The 47-year-old lorry driver was not injured.

A probe into the crash continues after the highway was shut for 13 hours, with motorists informed to keep away from the realm till the carriageway reopened.
