A SCHOOLGIRL who vanished within the River Thames at a celebration died “swiftly” from chilly water shock, an inquest heard.

Kaliyah Coa, 11, was reported lacking on March 31 after enjoying close to Barge Home Causeway in Woolwich, South East London.

An enormous search was launched however tragically, the teen’s physique was found two weeks later.

East London Coroner’s Courtroom heard how Kaliyah’s loss of life was “unnatural” – prompting an inquest.

A provisional reason behind loss of life was immersion, pending additional checks.

The autopsy recommended that Kaliyah had not died from drowning, the inquest heard.

Senior coroner Graeme Irvine mentioned: “The impact of being in chilly water would have brought about unconsciousness and loss of life comparatively swiftly.

“I wish to supply my honest condolences to the mother and father. I can not think about the grief they should be going via.”

A full inquest will probably be held at a later date.

Kaliyah was enjoying with one other younger woman and boy on a college inset day when she slipped into the Thames.

Her household yesterday paid tribute after police confirmed a physique pulled from Maritime Quay belonged to the schoolgirl.

They mentioned “their hearts are damaged” and their lives will “by no means be the identical”.

The household added: “We have been blessed to have Kaliyah, even when it was for such a short while. She will probably be missed a lot.

“Kaliyah went to a celebration and by no means returned dwelling to her household.”
