After the mum and toddler left the car it was pushed in the direction of Metropolis Corridor and onto Chichester Avenue.

It was later present in Higher Stanfield Avenue.

The police spokesperson added: ‘This was a completely surprising incident and a particularly distressing ordeal for the victims.

‘They’ve been left shaken, however fortunately in any other case unhurt.’

Sinn Fein councillor Ciaran Beattie described the incident as ‘disgraceful’.
