A Mercedes driver who left a ‘path of carnage’ throughout London’s West Finish final Christmas Day tried to punch a child amid a sequence of drink-fuelled assaults that finally killed a person, the Outdated Bailey heard.
Anthony Gilheaney, 30, is accused of mowing down 5 pedestrians within the capital within the early hours of December 25, 2024, killing 25-year-old Aidan Chapman and leaving 4 others severely injured.

As Mr Mahmood and his household stored strolling alongside Nice Windmill Avenue, Gilheaney is alleged to have focused Miguel Waihrich and his associate Marcelo Basbus-Garcia, who had been coming back from midnight mass in Piccadilly.
Mr Mahmood informed jurors he noticed the defendant’s automobile driving ‘fastly and randomly’ up the road, inflicting pedestrians within the space to scramble for security.
‘The automobile handed by us and simply behind me there was one other man who was operating to avoid wasting himself, however he hit him,’ Mr Mahmood stated – regarded as a reference to Mr Basbus-Garcia.
‘He hit him so quick that he flew.’


Gilheaney then allegedly reversed his automobile in the direction of Mr Mahmood and his household.
‘He was now attempting to hit us,’ Mr Mahmood informed jurors.
When requested if this was his impression of the incident, the witness stated: ‘That’s not an impression. He was attempting to hit us.
‘He got here in the direction of us, and my sister-in-law together with her pram.

Mr Mahmood informed the courtroom that Gilheaney had his driver window down, and that he spoke to him after they had been practically hit by his automobile, pointing to his three-year-old niece in her pram.

Following this incident, Gilheaney allegedly went on to hit 25-year-old Aidan Chapman and his buddy Tyrone Itorho, who had been crossing the street in Shaftesbury Avenue.
Mr Chapman was hit full-on and suffered catastrophic mind injury, the trial heard.
He died in hospital on New 12 months’s Eve.
A few of the victims – together with Mr Khan, who was hit in Archer Avenue, Mr Basbus-Garcia and Mr Waihrich – had been focused for racist and homophobic causes, the prosecution allege.
Gilheaney denies one depend of homicide, one depend of wounding with intent, three counts of tried homicide, two counts of inflicting grievous bodily hurt with intent, and one depend of trying to trigger grievous bodily hurt.
Jurors had been informed on Monday he had already admitted to harmful driving.
