A personal tutor who sexually assaulted 5 of his college students has been jailed for 11 years.

Umair Iqbal, 37, abused younger ladies at their properties he visited to conduct classes over a 10-year interval.

Amongst his victims was a younger muslim woman who he assaulted from when she was simply eight years outdated.

An investigation was opened into the maths and Quran tutor, from Cheetham Hill, Manchester in October 2020, after a 15-year-old woman reported his behaviour.

She had believed for years that the abuse was her personal fault, earlier than discovering the braveness to inform her household and police.

Additional inquiries by Rochdale’s multi-agency safeguarding workforce into Iqbal uncovered one other 4 victims, all 18 years outdated or youthful.

The tutor was discovered to have routinely abused his authority his feminine college students between 2010 and 2020.
